Role Overview:

Oversees the financial and accounting operations of Myant Corp, having a stake on every financial decision such as budgeting, and reporting to provide management with information vital to the decision-making process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurate and timely communication of financial information, analysis, and business results to the executive leadership team.
  • Preparation of the financial statements within the time frames provided while adhering to the generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Ensuring that all financial reports, budgets, forecasts, and other information required by the company are accurately compiled and submitted within the specified time limits, identifying variances, and making recommendations for improvements as appropriate.
  • Preparing accurate monthly forecasts, and cash flow statements on request.
  • A key member of the ERP project team, developing and implementing the new processes and procedures for accounting operations.
  • Identifying opportunities to streamline accounting processes and implement best practices to improve efficiency.
  • Assisting in coordination of the annual and cycle physical inventories, including investigate inventory counting variances and resolve issues.
  • Acting as the subject matter expert for reporting in ERP system from a costing and manufacturing perspective.
  • Conducting in-depth analysis to support decision-making, including variance analysis, cost-benefit analysis, budgeting and forecasting.
  • Leveraging technology to enhance the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting and accounting operations.
  • Oversight and management of all accounting functions.
  • Working with business and support departments to review monthly financial results, ensuring alignment with the organization’s financial strategy.
  • Reviewing and analyzing accruals and prepaids with relevant departments, making necessary adjustments and ensuring accurate reporting.
  • Development and implementation of effective asset and inventory control systems.
  • Monitoring and analyzing costs to identify areas for cost reduction and efficiency improvements.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify areas of opportunity within operations/supply chain to track inventory movements and support the inventory reconciliation process.
  • Overseeing regulatory reporting, including tax planning and compliance, providing auditors with all the information they need to render an accurate judgment of the company's financial statements.
  • Staying apprised of all the local, provincial, and federal tax laws and business regulations that affect Myant’s business, ensuring the company operates within the proper parameters.
  • Hiring, training, and retaining skilled accounting staff overseeing all employees involved in the accounting process, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll and inventory
Qualifications
  • Accounting Designation CPA (CA, CMA, CGA) with a minimum 5 years practical accounting experience.
  • Knowledgeable of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), accounting standards for private enterprises (ASPE) and Canadian generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • MBA considered an important additional qualification.
  • +10 years of proven experience in various levels of accounting.
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years in a leadership role overseeing other staff.
  • Excellent leadership and management skills.
  • Effective time management, presentation, and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical, numerical proficiency and use of logic, strong personal organization, good communication, and problem-solving skills.
