We are seeking a highly motivated and versatile Electrical Engineer to join our small but growing team. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to bring multiple products from early prototyping to mass production, creating a portfolio of next generation wearable products.
To be successful, the candidate must have a strong background in electrical engineering and have had experience designing consumer products for mass manufacturing. Applicants should have a keen eye for solving problems that currently do not have well defined solutions and be able to rapidly design/prototype these ideas. He or she will work with limited supervision and will be accountable for the delivery and critical appraisal of their results.
The successful candidate will join a multi-disciplinary team of scientists, engineers, textile experts, fashion designers and entrepreneurs to actively participate in the creation and optimization of new products.
Research, design and develop state-of-art mixed-signal electronics for the next generation of smart textiles
Optimizing designs for cost and miniaturization
Prototyping and validating new components with test builds and breadboards
Develop, debug and optimize firmware
Integrating peripherals such as memory, IMU, AFE, etc.
Integrating BLE and/or wifi drivers with existing radio stacks
Bring-up PCBs, document bugs, iterate on designs
Meet with FAEs and sales reps to maintain strong relationships with distributors and manufacturers
Work closely with the electrical, firmware, industrial design, mechanical and textile teams to fulfill project requirements
Ensure designs are DFM/DFA ready and improve designs based on feedback from CMs
Aid in the assembly of prototypes and debug issues on the fly
BASc. or MASc. in Electrical engineering or related field
2-5 years of experience with hardware design and embedded firmware development
Strong analog and mixed-signal design skills
Experience with analog and mixed-signal schematic design and PCB layout (Alitum preferred)
Strong circuit analysis/debugging and PCB bring-up/debugging experience
Experience with low-power embedded designs
Excellent understanding of C
Understanding programming principles associated specifically with embedded systems
Previous experience with embedded communication protocols such as UART, I2C, USB, SPI and SDHC
Experience with speed and power optimization on a resource constrained mobile platform
Experience with BOM management/optimization, quotes and DFM/DFA
Strong analytical, problem solving, and decision making capabilities
Excellent command of the English language both verbal and written
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment
Strong desire for entrepreneurial management style and ethical business practices
Experience with mix-signal design and biometric circuits (ECG/EMG/EEG)
Basic knowledge of signal processing
Programming an RTOS
Experience maintaining a firmware code base
Experience with the ARM Cortex M3 and M4 instruction sets
